Welcome to my faculty page. Stay here if you just want a short overview; otherwise feel free to browse my other pages. Briefly, I study primates. I study them to understand them as mammals, as members of ecological communities, and as building blocks to our own behavior. I focus on their behavior and ecology, but I am also interested in their evolutionary history. I am intrigued by complexity, particularly complex behavior. Natural history and fieldwork are my preferred guides for greater understanding. I’ve published on a number of topics, including predation, food competition, dispersal, the ecology of social relationships, the evolution of group living, the evolution of bipedalism, and the origin of primates.
